It Gets Better
To Whom It May Concern You Have To Know It Gets Better,
Everyone (whether they’ll say it or not) has had a time in their life when they felt like they just couldn’t take it anymore. When you don’t believe your life will get better, you feel stuck and waiting for that time in your life when it will change for the better seems too long. I may be only 24, but I’ve had several times in my life when I didn’t think my life would change. Life is definitely hard and there’s going to be hard times to endure. But there are good times too, times when you’ll be happy, laugh, feel relief and relax and be comfortable. But it takes time and you really have to believe that moment will come and you have to stick around to see it. What do you want your life to be? Visualize it, write it down. Make a promise to yourself that you will achieve it. Think of about it everyday. If you’re being bullied for being a lesbian, gay, transgender or bisexual. Bullied for being African-American, Latino, Multi-Racial, Asian or Native-American. Bullied for recently coming to the U.S. from another country, not knowing English or have an accent. Bullied for being poor. Bullied for needing a wheelchair or having a cleft lip or visible scars or lazy eye. Bullied for jewish, muslim, christian or an atheist. Bullied for being plus-sized or too short . It takes a long time, but everyday learn to accept your uniqueness. If you’re being bullied for standing up for your self (i.e. pressing charges against a person who raped or molested you, a person who discriminated you based on your race, gender, religion, etc.) , I applaud you for being brave , you should know by taking action you are helping every person who’s had a similar experience than you who feel too afraid to speak. You should know you’re not the only the one. If you’re depressed or being bullied for whatever reason please speak to a school counselor, attend therapy, talk to someone who you trust. If you aren’t able to speak with someone within your community and/or having thoughts about suicide or even know a friend who is having suicidal thoughts please contact The Trevor Project :1-866-4-U-TREVOR or visit the website The Trevor Project or the National Suicide Prevention Hotline 1-800-273-8255
