Husband & Husband, Wife & Wife

11 Oct

If you haven’t heard, Connecticut has legalized same-sex marriage. Connecticut is now the third state in the country (i.e. California and Massachusetts) that allows gay marriage legally. Other states such as New Jersey, Vermont and Hawaii have civil unions a.k.a. domestic partnerships. Let’s hope it stays legal and continues to be established in the rest of the U.S. I’m posting Melange Lavonne’s new single, “I’ve Got You”, because it seemed appropriate, being that marriage and family life mostly go hand in hand.

Michelle Obama Covers MORE Magazine’s October Issue

5 Sep

Well, by my posts you can tell that I’m an Obama supporter. I hope this doesn’t bother any of my readers who aren’t supporters of Barack Obama & the Demorcatic party, I’m just showing my fave candidate and his family some love.

For the October issue of MORE Magazine, the ultimate magazine for all women of a certain age (meaning 40 and up), Michelle Obama is gracing the cover. I haven’t found much info on her article with MORE (not even on the website), but I’m sure its talking about being in her forties and promoting her hubby.

“Watch Your Back Obama” by Amanda Diva

28 Jul

With the recent slander from Rev. Jesse Jackson and his supporters claiming he’s “flip-floping”, I thought it be appropriate to post Amanda Diva’s song, “Watch Your Back Obama” from her new mixtape, “Foreplay” ( a great song!).

The Obama’s on People Magazine

28 Jul

If you have been to any newsstands lately, then you already noticed The Obama’s gracing the cover of People Magazine. This is said to be the first and last “getting personal” with Obama and his family. I already picked up my copy and the article was great. Check it out and be sure to pick up your own copy.

Michelle Obama Guest Host on The View

18 Jun

Michelle Obama was on The View today as a guest host along with Whoppi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sherri Shepperd, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Barbara Walters. She was a natural, hopefully her appearance will make that quote she made about “finally being proud to be an American” be put to rest. I watched Barack Obama’s appearance on The View a month ago, and he was a natural as well. They just seem cool, calm and collected . Barack The Vote!!!!

Hopefully The Next Family To Enter The White House

4 Jun

I’m speechless as I’m writing this. History has been made. A person whose skin is naturally tan has may have a chance of bringing color to the white house. Barack Obama is the Democratic Presidential Nominee!!!! This is, if you haven’t seen in any newspaper headline, History in the making. As an African-American woman, I have goosebumps. I never thought this day would come. Having both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama running for President was enough for me. Having the possibility that a woman or a black person could possibly be the next President was mind blowing. As an Obama supporter, I’m estatic. Again, I never thought this day would come and Obama’s win shows how far America has come and its possible future.  Of course, In the beginning I had my doubts, racism is still alive and well, there are alot of racists who do not want any person whose skin shows the slightest brown to be President.

But for Obama to have so many supporters, win several primaries and super delegates shows that America is ready for change (I know, I Know…that’s apart of his campaign, but its true). We don’t want another Hurricane Katrina, We want our Troops Home, We want better health care, We Know that change will make that happen, Obama will make that happen.

As a role model to young African-American men, he’s showing them that they can achieve any and every goal and he’s achieved a big one, being the first African-American to ever clinch the Democratic nomination. This is something I want my younger male cousins to soak in and be an inspire them. He’s up there with Denzel Washington, Forest Whitaker, Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods, breaking barriers and not letting the color of your skin hold you back from your dreams. It’s makes me even more proud to be an African-American woman.

Congratulations to Senator Barack Obama and Good luck to him, his wife, Michelle Obama and their two daughters Sasha and Malia. If all goes well, You’ll be moving into the White House in November and I expect an invite to your first “White House Cookout” LOL
