Fashion Internships
26 JanI noticed I received several searches for fashion journalism internships. Although I am the least person to talk to when it comes to fashion, I know a couple of sites that can help. If you’re looking for a fashion editorial internship (magazine/newspapers/online magazines) I suggest going on ed2010, www.ed2010.com They feature several internships a week, and as of right now, tons of fashion journalism internships are available (including one with Teen Vogue Magazine if you’re in the NYC area: http://www.ed2010.com/jobs/whisperjobs/2008/01/teen-vogue-spring-08-fashion-and-accessories-interns). Also, there is this great website called, Fashion Internships, www.fashioninternships.blogspot.com which features internships in fashion from magazines to designers.
Music Journalism Internships
7 JunIf you’re looking for an internship in music journalism, I suggest e-mailing the editorial assistant of the entertainment and/or music department about the FAQs of an internship. You should also check out magazines that are geared towards music, like www.rollingstone.com , www.vibe.com , www.blender.com and www.spin.com Here is a link to info about an internship with Rolling Stone Magazine (and its nothing like the MTV reality show, I’m from Rolling Stone) http://www.princetonreview.com/cte/profiles/internshipGenInfo.asp?internshipID=684
I also suggest you check http://www.ed2010.com/ed-campus/internships/list to check out for any music intern openings
Beauty Journalism Internships Advice
11 MayIf you’re looking for an internship in journalism, preferably beauty, here are some things you should know: you should e-mail the assistant beauty editor at a couple of your favorite magazines. Their names can be found on the masthead page ( a list of the staff members of the magazine, from editors to interns), their accounts are usually with the first letter of their first name, followed by their last name@ their company (ex. aweath@ashmaga.com) You should also contact editors at beauty websites, www.glam.com, www.ambermag.com and www.allure.com . And check out, http://www.ed2010.com/ed-campus/internships/list, there are dozens of internship listings specifically for the beauty industry. Currently, on ed2010, Beauty Launch Pad, a beauty magazine based in Boston, is looking for summer interns, check out their website at www.beautylaunchpad.com
Journalism Internships
22 AprI noticed the other day that someone typed “Journalism Internships” and found my blog. If you’re looking to intern in magazines and/or newspapers, i suggest that you e-mail the editorial assistant and ask them any questions you have about internships. I love the website, www.ed2010.com , it has so many internship postings to chose from, they receive about 10 to 20 every week (definetley sign up for their newsletter too!). I also suggest going on their website. This can go for any type of print/web journalism (from blogs, to newspapers to magazines). I also suggest joining an organization that specifically for careers in journalism. I am apart of New York Women In Communications Inc., an organization for women in the NY-NJ-PA-CT area (of all ages, from students to professionals) who all aspire to either be or already have a career in the field of communications (i.e. public relations, books,Internet media, publishing,etc.). Its a great place to network and learn about whatever career in communications you’re interested in, while making friends in the process. Check out their website to see for your self, www.nywici.org
