It was all a dream

12 Apr

Dream Photo

One of my favorite girl groups growing up was pop sensation, Dream. Four teenage girls from California, joined to form a pop group for one of the most infamous hip-hop producers of all time: P.Diddy. Melissa, Diana, Ashley and Holly, had two hit singles as the band Dream: “He loves you not” and “This is me”. They even toured with NSYNC and became America’s newest pop princess sweethearts. But as soon as they were going to record their sophomore album, back-up singer and blond, Melissa, decided she wanted to focus on her acting career and left the group. They did find a replacement in Casey another blond and created a more mature, sexier image. But it didn’t help regain their fans and status as a pop group, since the music scene was going towards more rock-pop than r&b and pop. They are no longer together but their website is still ali alive and well. Check it out! web.archive.org/web/20010123102000/thedreamsite.com/index_flat.html

Jimmy Eat World

Jimmy Eat World

I know this band has been in the music scene since the late 90′s, but I’ve heard much from them since 2004, and I love this group so much, I just had to write about them.  I love their first album, “Jimmy Eat World”. ” A Praise Chorus”, ” Sweetness” are songs that I love and the single” If You Don’t, Don’t” is my favorite song overall. Their fifth album, ” Futures” I also liked. Their mainstream hit song, “The Middle” became an instant hit, but it isn’t one of my faves. You can contact them at www.jimmyeatworld.com and www.myspace.com/jimmyeatworld Whoever is reading this, send me some more info on Jimmy Eat World making a new album!

Burn Baby Burn!

Ash

Back in the day, is a new segment about artists and songs that I loved that aren’t that popular any more ( or at-least not in the U.S.) Ash, is a band that I kind of liked, only because their name was “Ash” and its my nickname. Ash consisted of four bandmates, (3 guys and 1 girl) from Ireland, who came to America and became a one hit wonder. Ash’s  hit song, was “Burn Baby Burn”, debuted in 2001, from their album, Free All Angels. They became very popular on MTV and The Box in the mid to late 90′s, but, after ” Burn Baby Burn”, they failed to make another hit in the U.S. They’re still active as a band, ( without female member Charlotte) with an official myspace page, www.myspace.com/ash  and website, www.ash-official.com
