25 Nov

Though tomorrow is Thanksgiving, I decided to post my favorite thanksgiving episode of the Cosby Show. I love how Cliff goes back and forth to the store in the storm, his expression every time he goes out is hilarious.

Christina Aguilera En Espanol

23 Nov

Seven years ago Christina Aguilera released her first Spanish-language album , “Mi Reflejo”. The Ecuadorian/Irish songstress Latin/pop album featured a few of her hits (Genie in A Bottle and I Turn to You) in Spanish as well as a couple songs that showcased her voice so well, she sounds great in Spanish and English. Pero Me Acuerdo De Ti (But I’m Reminded Of You), Falsa Esperanzas (False Hopes), Si No Te Hubiera Conocido (If I Hadn’t Known You), and El Beso De Final (The Final Kiss) are my favorites (and are better songs than her popular English/Spanish songs). Below are a couple videos of Mrs. Christina Maria Aguilera performing her hits in espanol.

Grammy’s in 2002, performing Pero Me Acuerdo de Ti & Falsas Esperanzas

Latin Grammy’s in 2000, performing Contigo en la Distancia & Genio Atrapado

Mel and Kim

24 Oct

I love 80′s Dance Pop music. Listening to Janet Jackson’s “Control” Album followed by Madonna’s single “Cherish” and some Paula Abdul brightens up my day. Now I have come across an 80′s Pop Duo from across the pond, Mel and Kim. If you don’t know, Mel and Kim (a.k.a. Melanie Appleby and Kim Appleby) was a sister-superstar pop duo in the U.K. during the late 80′s. They’re famous for their hit singles: “Respectable” , “F.L.M” and “Showing Out (Get Fresh At The Weekend)” off the debut album, F.L.M. . Sadly, Mel passed away in 1990 due of spine cancer, five years before she was also diagnosed with cancer and had a tumor removed from her liver. Kim had a successful solo career during the early 1990′s with her debut album, Kim Appleby.

JD Natasha

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, I chose to feature pop/rock singer JD Natasha (and because I love music featuring female artists with strong voices). Born Natasha Jeanett Dueñas, the Florida native of Cuban and Argentine descent, debuted her first and only album, Imperfecta/Imperfect in 2004. She received praise for the single “Lágrimas” which was also nominated for a Latin Grammy in the category “Best Rock Song” She was also nominated for Best New Artist and Rock Solo Vocal Album. She has yet release any solo music, but according to her myspace page, she is lead singer of the rock/indie band Fancy Me Yet

Here is one of my fave songs by her “Plastico”

Heartbreak Hotel- Whitney Houston, Faith Evans & Kelly Price

11 Sep

Although Whitney Houston, Faith Evans & Kelly Price are still relevant today, “Heartbreak Hotel” is almost a decade old (9 years to be exact). And, I loved this song when it came out, Whitney’s My Love Is Your Love album was one of her best albums.

Harlem World, “I Really Like It”

29 Aug

Harlem World was a hip-hop group that former rapper-turned pastor-turned rapper Mase created in the late 90′s. It consisted of rappers Cardan, Stase (Mase’s twin sister) and rapper Blinky Blink. They are most known for their hit “I Really Like It”. Harlem World released an album, “The Movement”in 1999, which received bad reviews. Looking for info on this group was very difficult.. Typing “Harlem World” in search engines, the first thing that comes up is Mase’s album “Harlem World”.  However, I chose this video because “I Really Like It” seems like a great song to play for the Labor Day weekend.

Savage Garden, ” I want You”

11 Jul

Savage Garden “I Want You”

Savage Garden was an pop duo that composed of Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones. They came on the scene with their debut album, Savage Garden, in 1997 from their native Australia and instantly became a hit with their first single, “I Want You”. Some of you might remember them from their hit“Truly, Madly, Deeply”, which was “The song” for weddings of the late 90′s. In 1999 they released their sophomore album, “Affirmation”, which featured the hit “I Knew I Loved You” (Kristen Dunst made played a love interest in its video). Roughly after Affirmation, they split up. Currently Jones is working at his production company, Level 7 Studio. Hayes is a succesful pop singer and has released several albums, His most recent album,This Delicate Thing We’ve Made”, features the dance single “The Start of the Something Wonderful”-which has be shown on  New Now Next , a show on LOGO that features new music from new artists of pop, rock, hip-hop, and R&B genres.

Will Smith’s, “Summertime”

3 Jul

Will Smith, “Summertime”

I’m sure “Summertime” will be on the radios of many back yard BBQ’s.

I’m taking a break for the 4th of July three day weekend. Like most of the U.S., I will probably see Will Smith’s new movie Hancock. It looks like a different take on the super hero, and despite bad reviews, I bet it’ll be another box-office hit for Mr. Smith (he is the king of the box office movies: Independence, Men in Black, I am Legend, Bad Boys, etc.).

P.S. Happy 4th of July Weekend!!!!
