Garbage “When I Grow Up”

6 Jan

‘When I Grow Up”

As part of my New Years Resolutions, I’m posting Garbage’s “When I Grow Up” ( I’ll have info on the group and where they are now in another post). I feel its appropriate for the New Year and new goals I hope to achieve for myself.

Did You Notice A Difference

28 Dec

So, I haven’t been blogging for a while. I’ve been having somewhat “bloggers block” (if there’s even such thing) and haven’t written anything. But I will begin writing new posts starting next week.

Anyway, did you notice a difference in the URL: Ash Magazine’s new URL is http://ashmagazine.com! To not have the wordpress name attached to my blogs URL is huge for me. My other blog: Thoughts of An Undergrad on Love and Life has a new URL: http://www.ashleynicolew.com

Unfortunately, my first Thoughts Of An Undergrad blog was deleted by way of my Gmail account being deleted, read about it here.

So, for the upcoming year, I am going to try to make Ash Magazine a real magazine, or at least something close to a magazine.

Thanks for reading,

-Ashley-Nicole

No Doubt Is Back!!!!

23 Nov

no-doubt

If you’ve checked out No Doubts website, you will see that the “Hey Baby” band is ready for a comeback! People.com reports that all band members have agreed to comeback to the music scene for a tour, even bringing their offsprings along lol. I’ve been a fan of No Doubt since Rock Steady (I have Tragic Kingdom and Return of Saturn, but Rock Steady is usually in my CD player compared to the other two). Great to see them back!

Christina Aguilera En Espanol

23 Nov

Seven years ago Christina Aguilera released her first Spanish-language album , “Mi Reflejo”. The Ecuadorian/Irish songstress Latin/pop album featured a few of her hits (Genie in A Bottle and I Turn to You) in Spanish as well as a couple songs that showcased her voice so well, she sounds great in Spanish and English. Pero Me Acuerdo De Ti (But I’m Reminded Of You), Falsa Esperanzas (False Hopes), Si No Te Hubiera Conocido (If I Hadn’t Known You), and El Beso De Final (The Final Kiss) are my favorites (and are better songs than her popular English/Spanish songs). Below are a couple videos of Mrs. Christina Maria Aguilera performing her hits in espanol.

Grammy’s in 2002, performing Pero Me Acuerdo de Ti & Falsas Esperanzas

Latin Grammy’s in 2000, performing Contigo en la Distancia & Genio Atrapado

National Novel Writers Month

1 Nov

Did you know that November is National Novel Writers Month, well I didn’t know (which is kind of bad because I want to be a succesful writer). The challenge for National Novel Writers Month, is to finish a novel by midnight-November 30th with 50,000 words (or 175 pages). Since my senior year in high school, I always wanted to write a first draft for my first novel, but have never gotten around to it. But since knowing this novel writing challenge, I’ve decided to go for it. Hopefully by November 30th I’ll have the story I’ve always wanted to write or atleast something close to it.

Britney Spears “Womanizer”

16 Oct

Britney has recently premiered her new music video, “Womanizer”. It is definitely way better than “Give Me More”. It kind of brings back the old Britney, full of choreography and scandalous scenes (like her in the buff in the sauna, I don’t care for it though).

If this video doesn’t work, click here to watch it, “Womanizer”

School Daze is Almost Legal

24 Sep

I can’t believeits been 20 years since Spike Lee premiered  School Daze. Its one of my favorites movies (which is a plus, because I don’t like musicals, but I love the songs “Straight and Nappy “ ( Jasmine Guy pre-A Different World) and ” Be Alone Tonight”  (Tisha Campbell is a great singer). This movie if timeless. I hear that a sequel is in the works, with Alicia Keys and Kanye West as the main stars. I don’t know about that, since both stars are pushing 30 and most of the students are in their early twenties.

This is one of my favorite scenes, Alpha Phi Alpha!!!! (P.S., Vanilla Ice stole their line, Ice Ice Baby…)
