Wendy Williams To Have Her Own TV Show

15 Jun

If you haven’t heard, “The Queen Of All Radio”, Wendy Williams has landed her own talk show. If you aren’t familiar with her, Wendy Williams is an radio talk-show host, an author and formerly host of her tv show on VH1, The Wendy Williams Experience, which was based on her radio show.  The Wendy Williams Show will start this July, but it will only be featured in four cities: New York City, Los Angeles, Detroit and Dallas. I guess that’s the test to see if her show is popular and gets good ratings, and if all is well, her show will be national. I’m a fan of her radio show and have a couple of her books, so I already signed up to get tickets. I’m curious to see how the show is going to be. Williams has stated that it will be the same as her radio show, but with a few new segments, so I’m sure it will be great. So, if you love gossip, celebrity news, fashion, and the like, be sure to check out The Wendy Williams Show, premiering July 14.

Happy Father’s Day

15 Jun

HeathCliff Huxtable “I am your father. I brought you in this world and I can take you out.”

Unfortunately I don’t celebrate Father’s Day, but for those of you who do, Happy Father’s Day!!!! If you’re a fan of The Cosby Show, then you definetly recognize this the person in the photo above. Heathcliff Huxtable, is one of the best TV fathers of all time, he’s the main ingredient to its success. The episode where Cliff complains that Rudy,Theo,Vanessa, and Denise don’t anticipate and treat Father’s Day the same as Mother’s Day and gets these weird gifts from them, is the best episode. However, that episode is not on Youtube, but I did find the pilot episode about Theo wanting to live on his own and Cliff showing how expensive life would be for him by using monopoly money. Enjoy !!!!

Hopefully The Next Family To Enter The White House

4 Jun

I’m speechless as I’m writing this. History has been made. A person whose skin is naturally tan has may have a chance of bringing color to the white house. Barack Obama is the Democratic Presidential Nominee!!!! This is, if you haven’t seen in any newspaper headline, History in the making. As an African-American woman, I have goosebumps. I never thought this day would come. Having both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama running for President was enough for me. Having the possibility that a woman or a black person could possibly be the next President was mind blowing. As an Obama supporter, I’m estatic. Again, I never thought this day would come and Obama’s win shows how far America has come and its possible future.  Of course, In the beginning I had my doubts, racism is still alive and well, there are alot of racists who do not want any person whose skin shows the slightest brown to be President.

But for Obama to have so many supporters, win several primaries and super delegates shows that America is ready for change (I know, I Know…that’s apart of his campaign, but its true). We don’t want another Hurricane Katrina, We want our Troops Home, We want better health care, We Know that change will make that happen, Obama will make that happen.

As a role model to young African-American men, he’s showing them that they can achieve any and every goal and he’s achieved a big one, being the first African-American to ever clinch the Democratic nomination. This is something I want my younger male cousins to soak in and be an inspire them. He’s up there with Denzel Washington, Forest Whitaker, Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods, breaking barriers and not letting the color of your skin hold you back from your dreams. It’s makes me even more proud to be an African-American woman.

Congratulations to Senator Barack Obama and Good luck to him, his wife, Michelle Obama and their two daughters Sasha and Malia. If all goes well, You’ll be moving into the White House in November and I expect an invite to your first “White House Cookout” LOL

Blackout

4 Jun

Of Course, the movie every woman who loves Manolo’s was waiting to see was Sex and the City. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get to the movie theatre this weekend, so I did not get to see it. (I know, I Know, I’m sobbing now, LOL. But this weekend, I’m all about Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha!!!!). However, one movie I did see this weekend was Blackout. Well, I saw it a couple weeks before, but I had to see it again, its that good. Blackout is an dramatization on the actual blackout of most of the east cost in August 2003. Remember the infamous blackout, where the Northeast, parts of Canada and the MidWest endured a power outage that lasted about a day and a half.

The movie has a few main characters with great story lines that’ll keep you glued to the tv: 1) Fatima (Susan Kelechi Watson), is so in love with her man, however he’s no angel, Watch to see the way they 2) C.J. ( Michael B. Jordan) is the do-gooder type, he’s a senior in high school who’s planning on going to Penn State in the fall and is an overall nice guy, but his best-friend Tyrone (Robert Brickie-Tate) isn’t following in the same path and is leaning more towards gang life. It’s a definite surprise to see how their friendship works out towards the end. 3) Claudine (Zoe Saldana) is a writer at Uptown Magazine, but is having financial troubles, providing for herself and her boyfriend James (Sean Blakemore). James seems to be experiencing depression and anxiety due to witnessing the September 11th attacks while working in NYC. This has affected their relationship negatively, and coping with the blackout together does influence where they stand with each other.

Its been played on BET a couple of times, and is available on line to purchase. To be honest, I heard about Blackout before, but the preview on BET made it seem like  those certain kind of movies I rarely watch. But within the first 10 minutes, I was hooked. If you want to be hooked yourself, check out the video above this post, “Meet Team Blackout” as well as the trailer.

P.S., If you liked Blackout, On The Outs, another independent drama, is another movie you should check out.
