If you haven’t seen the numerous commercials on MTV, Randy Jackson Present’s America’s Best Dance Crew (ABDC) is premireing its second season this Thursday. I watched most of the first season and was very happy with the Jabawockeez becoming the show’s first winner (They were my favorite). A couple weeks ago, ABDC premiered a special two and a half hour show of the live auditions for the second season. The show was divided into four groups: East Coast, Mid-West, South and West Coast. Since I’m a jersey girl, I was excited to see who would be representing the East Coast, and was more excited to find that two all girl teams were from New Jersey. However, I have a problem with the judges decision to cut one of the Jersey Groups.
The two groups were: Shhh! is an all Latina girl group from North Bergen and Sass x 7 an all girl group (and Rutgers students) from Piscataway, and the judges decided to cut Shhh!. Now, I’ved watched the show before, and I know the style that the groups from last season had, and Sass x 7 didn’t show it. Although they did say they’re always confused with being a cheer leading team (because of their style of dance) and claimed that they dance hip hop, their routine was similar to a dance team’s. Shhh! style, in my opinion, suited better with the other dance crews, but I guess the judges wanted something different. Hopefully Shhh! will come back next season, make it to Hollywood and prove the judges wrong.
