When I hear that singers/celebs are coming out with fashion lines, I sometimes get irritated. Only because, if they’re a singer, they’re occupation should only consist of anything that involves singing and music. And, most singers/rappers/musicians only put their face to a brand and don’t really care about fashion. However, there are a few celebs who have a love for fashion that is beyond buying clothes and one fashion line I am really starting to like is Mblem by Mandy Moore. I’ve always been an admirer of Mandy Moore. When she first came into the pop scene in the late 90′s, I was more into Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears than Mandy, but over the years, I’ve grown to like her as a celeb. She’s young like me, she hasn’t tried to copy another singer’s style, she just her own person. And, I really like her taste in fashion. She’s not too flashy or even too sexy, she’s more cool and classy with just a pinch of sexy. I’ve checked out her fashion line: Mblem by Mandy Moore. All the clothes from the dresses to blouses to jeans are something that I can see being in Mandy’s closet, and if I get a nice Christmas gift card, they might be in my closet too, LOL. Sara Bareilles( pronounced Bar- el-les) is a new singer/songwriter that I am growing to love. Her debut single “Love Song” has been on constant rotation on 95.5 PLJ in NYC and as is the video on VH1. Her sound is like a mixture of Norah Jones meets Fiona Apple (without the angst that Fiona has and more of the sweetness that Norah has). Her single ” Love Song” sounds, to me, like its not alot about love. Its about her having to write a love song for her significant other, in order for them to stay and her saying, “I’m not gonna write you a love song just because you want one, I need a actual reason”. Check out her Myspace Page, www.myspace.com/sarabareilles where you’ll find three other songs including a fave of mine called “Gravity“….Sean Kingston’s, www.seankingston.com, new song, “Take You There”, is slowly becoming a song I really like. At first it has this really fast/up tempo beat, that’s a little overwhelming, but it slows down and is very similar to freestyle music of the 80′s. “Take You There” is about Sean and a girl he likes, and telling her he can take her anywhere, to the west-indies to the hood LOL. Its a really good song for when you want to feel happy and bouncy….Linkin Park’s, www.myspace.com/linkinpark, new single “Shadow of the Day” is also a new song I really like. It definitely has more of a mainstream sound that their other songs, and it is in rotation on 92.3 KROQ, 95.5 PLJ and Z100 in NYC, all three being very different stations with different tastes in music. “Shadow of the Day”, about a new beginning in a person’s life,this shows in the lyrics: ”In cards and flowers on your window, Your friends all plead for you to stay, sometimes beginnings aren’t so simple, sometimes good bye’s the only way”….You should definitely check out all three songs, I highly recommend them!!!!

I just wrote a post about getting my hair trimmed this weekend and how I feel about it, I think its a good post and really funny so hopefully you will like it too. Tammy Tibbetts is an up and coming magazine editor who, at first look at her experience, I was completely intimidated by. Her resume is filled with internships and freelance work from the likes of such magazines as JANE Magazine. Seventeen Magazine, CosmoGIRL! Magazine and Ladies Home Journal. And in person, she’s very nice and sincere, with a personality that everyone is going to automatically like. I first met her when I sent in an e-mail to write for the nywici NEXT newsletter, she was the editor in chief/founder of it, and told me I would have to sign up as a member of New York Women in Communications Inc. in order to write for the newsletter. NYWICI, www.nywici.org, an organization for women who aspire or already have a career in communications (such as advertising, publishing, public relations, print journalism etc.). I signed up and was featured as the student spotlight for Spring 2007 issue. I’m writing about this today because I received an e-mail from her talking about her new blog, “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”, www.newyorktoliberia.wordpress.com, which showcases her journey to Liberia as she volunteers there and writes about her experience. Its something that you should definitely check out. I also like to read her other blog Pretty Lady, www.prettylady.wordpress.com , which features posts on fashion, lifestyle, good books to read, magazine career advice, the best places to be and be seen in NYC and much more for a gal whose interested in a career in magazines. Jossip is a blog that has slowly become one of my many go to blogs when I want to know about celebs, the latest chaos in Manhattan or just want some (dare I say it) gossip. I’ve heard about it before but have never been much a reader the way I am now. Its publisher David Hauslaib, was a student at Syarcuse University, www.syracuse.edu, when he first started Jossip. He first only did it because he likes gossip, so he started his own blog. At first it was only viewed by his friends, but overtime his readership grew, he became more popular, and started to look as his blog as a business. By using advertisements on his blog. Now Jossip is the go to place for the latest Manhattan/Celebrity news and its publishing company, Jossip Initiatives, has created three other blogs under its wings: Mollygood, www.mollygood.com, a blog that lists the last gossip on celebs from the A-list to the D-list, Queerty, www.queerty.com, a blog as they call it “with a gay agenda” and Stereohyped, www.stereohyped.com, one of my fave blogs, which I already listed in the section Blogs I love.

A shot at love with Tila Tequila
13 NovI’m not into dating/reality television shows, however ” A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila” on MTV, http://www.mtv.com/ontv/dyn/tila_tequila/series.jhtml, has is slowly starting to grow on me. Googling her, Tila Tequila, www.myspace.com/tilatequila, seems to me named the “Queen of Myspace”, being also a model/rapper. It kind of reminds me of an edgy, rated M.A. version of I Love New York. It does involve a lot of sexuality, being that Tila is bisexual and she has 16 boys and 16 girls fighting for her affection, but it more drama between the contestants more than anything. This is shown especially with male contestant Ashley (man… why does he have to ruin the Ashley name ?LOL) causing a fight with fellow contestant Bobby, saying that he is the only person there for Tila and everyone is just there for the fame.
