Wild Orchid

The late 90′s pop/R&B/dance girl group, Wild Orchid, were made up of three friends, Renee Sandstrom, Stefani Ridel and Stacy Ferguson ( A.K.A. Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas). The had a few hit songs, including “Talk to Me” and “Supernatural” from their debut album “Wild Orchid”, released in the spring of 1997. I mostly remember them from the Fox Family Channel ( Now ABC Family) show, “Great Pretenders” and being most voted on the late music channel, “The Box“. “Great Pretenders” was a karaoke style show where teens would perform songs by their favorite artists and were judged on performance and given prizes. Each show ended with a performance from Wild Orchid. They released two more albums “Oxygen” in 1998 , “Fire” in 2001 (both failed in terms of sales) and “Hypnotic” (with only Renee and Stefani) in 2003, which was released after Fergie left the group and joined the Black Eyed Peas, and it also failed. Now that the weather is getting warmer everyday, showing a little skin is becoming more mandatory. While Nivea’s Silky Shimmer Lotion (www.nivea.com) leaves your skin filled with gold sparkles and comes in two shades (light to medium and medium to dark) that give the skin a glow and also a tan for lighter complexions. On a hot day, Jergens is more thick in texture and leaves your skin not looking ashy while Nivea’s texture is very thin and can rub off if you sweat, so pick Jergens for moisturizing and pick Nivea for the color, both are under $6, and I highly reccomend buying them both!!!!

Seventeen year-old Sean Kingston’s (www.myspace.com/seankingston) debut single, “Beautiful Girl“, is becoming a hit among both pop and R&B/Hip-Hop fans (being played both on z100 and Hot 97 here in the tri-state area). I love the fact that it has an old 50′s vibe to it, with the doo-wops in the background.  Another newcomer who is also seventeen, Brooklyn native Lil’Mama (www.myspace.com/lilmamaonline) came on to the scene with her hit single “Lip Gloss“. Its a song about, well…lip gloss and her first day at a new school and wanting everyone to like her, and everyone does because her lip gloss is “poppin”. She’s also become a remix queen, featuring on the remix to Avril Lavigne’s Girlfriend, the Dr. Luke’s Remix, as well as Rhianna’s single Umbrella. American Idol inspired band, Daughtry’s (www.myspace.com/daughtry) new single, Home,is about their lives as rock stars and always returning home to not be caught up in the lifestyles of the rich and famous. They have a really nice sound, its rock music with a pop appeal, similar to Nickelback, who their on tour with this summer. All three songs I definitely recommend to download/buy!

Cover Girl’s Eye Enhancer’s Eye Shadow in Trio and Quads give a great variety of shades to wear. I’ve always been a little afraid to wear eyeshadow ,especially blue eyeshadow, in fear that I would look like a clown. However, Cover Girl’s Eye Enhancers give an almost sheer shine with enough color to even it out. When applied, it has a soft, powder texture ,it doesn’t have an odor and it only costs about $5 each. For girls toned medum to dark toned, the shade Dance Party ( a palette of three shades of purple; trio)  & Coffee Shop (four shades of brown ranging from dark to light)looks great on a dark tone. For tan to olive skin girls, Shimmering Sands ( trio, three sheer shades of brown) & Urban Basics (four shades ranging from pink to brown) and for pale skin gals Evening Skies, (trio, three shades of blue) & Pure Romance (four shades of sheer color).
