T.A.T.U.

Do you remember T.A.T.U? They were a female russian duo (Lena Katina & Yulia Volkova ) who were most famous for wearing catholic school girl uniforms (like Britney Spears in her first single, “Hit Me Baby One More Time”)and their lesbian ways (like making out on stage during the song) than for their voices. They came to the United States in late 2001 and debuted their first single, “All the things she said” off their U.S. album 200 kh/m in the wrong lane. Their music was a mix of dance, pop, and techno, with lesbian themes in almost every song. Their touch-feelly behavior was seen as uncomfortable to others, because they were so comfortable with it (however, in real life, they aren’t lesbians or bisexuals). I actually liked their songs and they did a great remake of the song “How Soon is Now?” by the band Love Spit Love. They also released another album Dangerous and Moving, but it wasn’t released in the U.S. Check out their website at www.tatugirls.com

For NYC Lovers Only

29 May

Although both these movies are geared toward the younger audience, if you love NYC and the underdog, you’ll love these two movies. Little Manhattan, an independent film that debuted in 2005, is about a Gabe, a 10 year old boy from the Upper West Side who experiences his first taste at love with Rosemary Telesco, a 11 year-old childhood friend who soon becomes his first crush. Although the movie is more about love its also liking an hour and 20 minutes advertising for NYC, with Central Park being one of the main characters. Its a love story that anyone from 11 to 26 to 40 can relate too, a must see if you’re interested in enduring the adventure that is NYC. Also, the independent documentary, Mad Hot Ballroom, also featured in 2005, show’s three NYC schools prepare to compete in a annual dancing competition. Although the contest is open to over 30 teams, the film focuses on three teams as they dance the salsa, groove to the swing, and move their hips while doing the tango. The children’s answers to questions about life are extremely funny. When a boy was asked about the changes that happen to boys when they turn 11, he complained about washing twice a day, and changing his bed sheets after he peed and use deodorant, and if you’re looking for more laughs, one girl stated that 11 year old girls are the number one target for kidnappers right next to her classmate, another 11 year old girl whose facial expression is priceless. All three teams are underdogs in their own rights, one from Brooklyn, another from Tribeca and the last from Washington heights, they all show their desire to win but to also have fun at the same time. TimbalandThe Bravery

Producer/Rapper Timbaland’s new single, The Way I Are, from his new album ,Timbaland Presents ShockValue is a great song. Its about a guy telling his girlfriend he doesn’t have  of material things to give her and she tells him she likes him just the way he is. It features an unknown singer, Keri Hilson, along with D.O.E & Sebastian. Its an upbeat song with that is definitely going to be another hit for Timbaland. I’ve liked the band, The Bravery, since their debut  single, An Honest Mistake, back in 2005. Now, two years later, they have a sophomore album (The Sun and the Moon, which came out yesterday) and a new single, Time won’t let me go. Its sounds more a classic 70′s rock song, with a mix of the Beatles with the bridge “ba-ba-ba” in the background. When I first heard Fergie’s new single, “Big Girls don’t Cry”, I didn’t know it was her. It sounded similar to Natasha Bedingfield since it was a pop, guitar driven song, and since the Black Eyed Peas and former late 90′s group Wild Orchid, I’ve only heard her voice on pop/r&b/hip-hop pop beats. It was completely unexpected and i love that this song is different from her previous singles. Its about her telling her boyfriend, that she’s has to find herself and love who she is before she can be in an relationship, something that all young women today can relate to.

MaryKate & Ashley Lip Liner

23 May

CosmoGIRL! Beauty testing offering goodie!

‘Blush’, was the first word I noticed on the Mary Kate & Ashley product, so I immediately thought it was blush, and didn’t realize it might be something else due to its small and thin size. I turned it over and saw ” line my lips-lip liner”. I’m glad I found it, b/c I would’ve worn it on my cheeks thinking it was a new form of blush. When lining my lips, It feels very smooth which is great because some lip liners are pencils that have a sort of rough feel and leave a little sting after lining. Although I couldn’t find a picture, I did find their website: http://www.mary-kateandashley.com/usa/index.php?cat=Beauty

You need 2 know!

When it comes to lip liner there are a few basic rules to always remember. When applying, a couple of strokes on the lower and upper lip will do. Don’t go overboard and give your lips a new outline. Try to use a color similar to your skin tone and if you want to make your lips look full(er) don’t use black lip liner. Pick a shade that is similar to the shade of lip gloss or lip stick your wearing. First you line your lips with the lip liner and fill in the shade of the lip stick/gloss afterwards, using a skinny brush that is always used when applying lip gloss.
