Press Play!

16 Feb

Press Play (Parental Advisory) by P. DiddyI never though the day would come, when I would actually want to buy a rap album. Don’t get me wrong, I like rap and Hip-Hop, but the cursing and the disrespecting women part, i’m not a fan of( in terms of hip-hop, I’m more of a Kanye west, common, mos def, slum village fan-Hip Hop with a conscience and less or no cursing at all). But P.Diddy’s new album, Press Play, is an album that I don’t want to miss out on. Its definetley a feel good kinda record. And using songstresses Nicole Sherzinger of the PussyCat Dolls, Christina Aguilera & Keisha Cole on his first three singles, he’s reaching hip-hop, R & B and mainstream fame all at the same time, I highly recommend to go buy it.

Macy’s first day @ NYU

11 Feb

August 28, 2006: Its almost 80 degrees outside, and I’m so ready to start my freshman year at NYU, my fave , first choice school to go to. As I’m walking to my dorm in Brittany Hall, I see all kinds of students walking by me, the artsy-granola students, ultra preppy, and some of the geeky ones. It would be interesting to see Mary Kate & Ashley, but for now, I’m just focusing on finding my roomate.

Breathe ! Collection

8 Feb

During my first year at college I got my first job at Bath & Body Works at the local mall. I was so excited, being my first job and i got to work at a store where i loved their products. While there, i noticed their “Breathe” collection of lotions and sprays and scrubs. There fragrance, “Comfort” was my absolute favorite out of all three ( including Romance, Happiness and Energy) it has a kinda Vanilla scent ( which is a sent that I favor in almost every lotion) and it comes in three’s: body cream, hand cream, and body scrub and its only $12.50, its a bargain, so go out and buy it!

If I had an Ipod….

The GameFall Out Boy

I first heard Fall Out Boy’s new single, “This aint a scene, its a damn arm’s race” on TWIST Radio on 95.5 PLJ, in NYC. I became a fan of theirs after hearing “Sugar, we’re goin’ down” on possbly every rock/mainstream radio staion in the tri-state are. Some are labeling them as the next “Green Day”, and i have no doubts that it won’t happen. Their songs are always full of energy, you just have to move whenever you hear them,( especially Dance Dance). The Game’s new single,  “Wouldn’t get far” is about all the video vixens who are in any hip-hop/rap video that will do anything to achieve fame, and he’s basically “putting them on blast” in a “telling them off kind of way”. Also, Beyonce’s song “suga mama” is quickly becoming my favorite song at the moment. its upbeat and just a great song that’ll make you feel good!

The Red Jumpsuit ApparatusChristina Aguilera Photo

Christina Aguilera is by far my favorite artist of all time. I’ve been a fan of her since her “Genie in a Bottle” days.  Her new single, Candy Manis very 40′s and 50′s sounding. Like you at the juke joint ready to party. Its apart of disc 2 of Back to Basics, the more old-school sounding of the album. Its one of my favorite songs and I can’t wait for the video! The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus is a new band, that I am very much in like with. At first, their single, “facedown” was just a fun, hyper, song to listen on the radio, but now I realize the message in the song. Its about domestic violence(…do you feel like a man, when you push her around, do you feel better now, she’s all to the ground). its a great way to show this horrible thing in a good light and hopefully it’ll prevent it from happening.

a glimpse of the uptown girl’s life

6 Feb

I’ve decided to change my upcoming blog/story from west end gurl to uptown girl. Uptown girl, will be about a freshman at NYU and New York Native, Macy ( named after her mother’s favorite store) and her life as a Film & Television major at the tisch school of the arts, she grew up in Fort Green Brooklyn with her sister, laura, her father : Marc and her mom: Isabelle. On her first day, she moves into her dorm at Brittany Residence Hall, and sees first hand the different breeds of students: the young celebs, rich socialites and the geeky students who don’t excude the stereotype.

Cream Blush!

1 Feb

Revlon® Cream Blush

Revlon’s Cream Blush is a product that is like having two things in one. The cream blush is easily blends in with your skin and you can use you fingers if you don’t have a brush or sponge with you. The six colors give your cheeks just a hint of color, to look as though you’ve been blushing all day. For women with fair skin i would suggest to use rosy glow, for olive to tan, berry flirtatious would compliment your skin tone and for women who are bronze to dark skinned, i would use blushing mauve. I only recommend shades that don’t let anyone look similar to a clown ( which is why i tell you to be careful with the shade, first blush, remember: make-up is supposed to bring out your best features, not create a whole new face)
